Welcome to Hedgehog Class with Mr Green.
First week back
It has been a great first week back with the children. I am so happy to be teaching them again and it was great to see them all after a difficult year. I am incredibly proud of how quickly they have settled and taken to year 4. They have given their all and smiled every day. Well done Hedgehog class!
This week, we have been looking at the movie script from the film Toy Story. It has been great to learn about how the actors are given stage directions and the different features a real movie script contains. Today, we acted out a scene from the film, taking it in turns to be Buzz and Woody. It was great fun.
Pete the Poet
This week, we were very luck to have Pete the Poet come in and work with the children. We talked through the way we can use language to paint an image in the reader's mind. As a class, we helped to contribute to a Kingfisher School poem. We also got to dress up which was great fun.
This term, we had a fantastic opportunity to take part in a skipping workshop. We all got given a skipping rope by the school and were taught how to skip along with some great tricks. We also learnt about the importance of fitness and being active. Thank you to Mr Glentworth for giving us a great experience and some super skipping ropes.
We have been learning about coordinates this week in Maths. To round off the week, we played a great game of Battleships.
Hedgehog class were lucky enough to have Darrell Wakelam complete some fantastic sculptural artwork with us. In recognition of the armed forces and our new House system in school, Darrell worked with the children to create the four helicopters of the different Houses. A great day and the children made us so proud.
As part of our Tudor topic, we had a fantastic time learning about the different and often strange Tudor foods. We found out that rich people ate very differently to the peasants. Throughout the day, we went to the practical room with Mrs Worley to cook the food typical of the time. In the afternoon, we had a banquet where we got to eat Gammon, Tudor Bread, Pottage and Pork Pies. Afterwards we collected a vote and the Gammon was the most popular.
We had a fantastic Christmas Lunch this week. It was lovely to all share amazing food and our cracker jokes.
